Blogging
Although I am fairly new to the blogging world, I think that it is an AWESOME tool for teachers to use to document their growth and to reflect upon their teaching!

It is my goal to use blogging as a means of recording my growth, to exemplify my creative class projects, and to reflect upon my journey through my PS3 internship. I am hoping to get my students to blog throughout my time with this class, so I think that it is only fair that I also engage in blogging as well so that I can model examples for them.
Technology For The Win is a blog based around self-directed online learning and various educational online opportunities. I wrote this blog for a Web-Based Learning Education Election course at the University. Through the duration of the course I discovered many interesting things about online learning and I found it very helpful to use the blog as a way of documenting my learning. Blog entries cover subjects such as: self-directed learning, classroom blogging, online presentations, Twitter in the classroom, MOOCS, digital literacy, social bookmarking, wikis, website creation, online assessment, communication, sharing resources, and web 2.0 tools. My Websites
Listed below are some websites that I have personally made or collaboratively contributed to during my education classes.
This website was designed in my first year of teaching in the Catholic System. We went to faith formation meetings 4 times throughout the year and then developed a Religion Portfolio to document our growth as Catholic teachers throughout the year.

This is a website that I created during a web-based learning education elective class. It was based on the content that I taught to my Grade 3's in PS2 during the "Testing Materials and Designs" Science Unit. The website includes information about towers and bridges, covers needed vocabulary, and gives teachers all of my resources that I used to teach the unit including the final project. It also has a section for students with fun related links!

I created this website as a form of "web-quest" to follow with my Grade 3 class while completing a unit on zoo research projects. The website has all the needed background information and teacher resources to complete the unit. Their projects had a written component that focused on appearance, habitat, and interesting facts. The students also colored images of their animals and created a visual "zoo information board". The website also includes student examples and "blabberized" animal recordings of their final research projects. Go ahead and check them out!

This was my website that I created during PS2 seminar as a 'beginner portfolio' but also as a centralized place to keep the many resources that I was bringing in at the time. It was a great learning experience to create my first website, and I still use it on occasion to remember some good resources!

This website was actually a collaborative project between myself and 4 of my peers. It was for a class on differentiation, and I was very pleased with the result in the end. It really opened my eyes to how awesome Weebly can be for group projects! Each group member contributed to the general information in the first few tabs, but my specialized sections were the page on resources for teachers, as well as the page for strategies for dealing with these issues in elementary school.

Examples of Technology Proficiency:
One of my favorite websites for creating online projects is Prezi.com. I love how visually engaging their presentations are, and I especially love the collaborative functionality of the website because it has served as an awesome group tool throughout university instead of having to meet up all the time! I wanted to include my link to my Prezi page because I have many projects relating to education on there. Feel free to go check them out! I also wanted to include my online presentation on "Teaching Digital Literacy" that I made for an online course.
Student Examples of Technology use
Blogging - the following blog posts were completed by the Grade 5 class as a means of highlighting some of their favorite memories from science with me.
Grade 4 Social European Explorers updating their 'Fakebook' accounts:
In order for students to be successful 21st Century Learners who are well equipped to manoeuver in the technological world, teachers need to use technology both as a teaching strategy (for videos, links, and by using the SMART Board), but also as a means for allowing the kids to create digital content for various assignments such as the Fakebook accounts above. The reason why it is so crucial to focus on creating online content is that these children will grow up with technology at their fingertips, and need every chance possible to educate them on the proper use and responsibilities in regards to this technology. Students need to realize that technology is great when it used for productive manners, but that there are also many dangers related to the online world so they need to be critical online users in order to be both digitally literate and globally connected in the way that technology intends. Below is an 'advertising banner' promoting safe online decisions that my Grade 4/5 class made together after learning about online safety.
