I believe that one of the best ways to learn about somebody is to ask other people for their opinions on that person. This page is dedicated to just that! I have gathered a collection of "quotes" from varied sources to break down how others view me as a person and as a teacher. Although some comments just make me smile, other comments really forced me to reflect on which of my personal qualities other people value the most - after all, I am my harshest critic!

What my students say...
Although they might not be the most "professional" examples to showcase first, these are the comments that keep me going when the days get long. THESE comments are the comments that inspire teachers to join the profession in the first place, and THESE are the comments that I cherish the most which is why I have decided to share them here!
What principals have said...
From my PS3 Principal:
- "Cheryl was a delight to have as an additional member of our staff. She quickly became involved in all aspects of our school community, making a very positive contribution to our academic and co-curricular program."
- "She demonstrated her ability to take charge and assist in activities smoothly and efficiently. She does not have to wait for instructions or guidance but quickly perceives where there is a need to help, and takes action to solve problems and assist the group."
- "The ability to be proactive and take initiative was also evident in Cheryl's approach to her teaching."
- "She was a precise and conscientious planner, always making sure that materials were ready, that her lessons were well planned and that attention was paid to every detail."
- "Her classroom delivery was confident and smooth; Cheryl made it clear that she had a firm grasp of the subject area and was able to communicate this knowledge to students."
- "In her interactions with students she was respectful and encouraging, minimizing classroom disruptions and treating all her students in a positive and caring manner"
- "Cheryl planned some amazing hands on classes for her students... Cheryl worked diligently to ensure that students felt confident about their learning, had opportunities to work creatively and were evaluated with consistency and fairness."
- "Cheryl used technology tools in her teaching with confidence and efficiency"
- "It was a pleasure to have Cheryl as a member of our...staff during her internship. She has a true enthusiasm for teaching, a warm personality, and a clear commitment to students and their learning. I expect she will continue to grow as a teacher and to make a very positive difference in the lives of the students she teaches."
From my PS1 Principal:
- “Miss Miller was a definite asset to our school during her time with us.”
- “She was very well liked by her students and her teacher associate conveyed to me many times on Cheryl’s strengths as a student teacher.”
- “She had a genuine rapport with [the students] and yet maintained a professional distance that student teachers often find challenging.”
- “Cheryl was extremely dependable, always arriving at school early, and professionally dressed.”
- “In my teaching and administrative career, I have rarely seen an individual at the PS1 level that displays such strengths as a teacher.”
- “Miss Miller truly has the personal and professional qualities that result in an extremely qualified teacher. I have no doubts that this individual will continue on this path in her next professional semester placements and future career as an educator. I highly recommend Miss Miller as an exemplary teacher at this stage of her educational formation.”
From the Principal at my own High School:
- “She has always been a trustworthy, dedicated student who is honest and sincere.”
- “Cheryl is a hard working student who cares about the courses she is doing and is always prepared for class.”
- “Another of her positive characteristics is her personality. She is the type of student who is smiling and positive the vast majority of the time. When she looks at the situation the glass is always half full and seldom, if ever, is half empty.”
- “Cheryl is also a leader within the school community and has taken on many roles.”
- “Her leadership skills are very evident… and the school has benefited from this immensely.”
- “She has her long range and short range goals set and is working hard to obtain all of them. When she accomplishes one of the short range goals, she then sets another one, so she is always string to better herself.”
- “I firmly believe that Cheryl will be very successful in her pursuits and will be a very positive influence on society… she is a great all around person and student.”

What others are saying:
Below are some old reference letters that were written for me back in high school while I was applying for leadership scholarships. Although the letters may be a few years old, I am including some of their letters because I feel that many of the comments in these letters reflect my positive personality, the things that I value, and the person that I am! The letters below are written from a teacher assistant from my practicum, a teacher that I did work experience under, one of my high school teachers, 2 of my sport coaches, and a lifeguarding co-worker. Enjoy!
